Reading Joseph O'Neill: Netherland

Irish-born, Netherlands-bred novelist Joseph O'Neill recently garnered stellar reviews for his third novel Netherland; it's been touted as The Great Gatsby of our time by the likes of Michiko Kakutani. (The literary world buzzed when the Man Booker Prize denied it a spot on the short list.) Tonight, O'Neill comes to KGB Bar to read from the novel, which tells the story of a Dutch banker adjusting to life in post-9/11 New York, and of his his flirtation with a Gastsbyesque character — the charimatic-yet-shady cricket impresario Chuck Ramkisoon.
